Elegant Jade tells the story of Wang Yan (256–311), an aristocrat whose inner serenity defied the chaos surrounding him. Educated in Confucian traditions and later serving as a high official, he was known for his disdain for wealth despite his privileged background. Wang Yan embodied the “gentleman style,” with a glow like warm, luminous, refined jade—graceful in movement, distant in gaze, and serene in spirit.
